Cold morning, going to the hospital to get this figured out
October 2nd, Day 111
It was cold this morning, I woke up in all of my warmer sleeping options and I slept well but autumn is absolutely here. I slept subconsciously on my left side to not put pressure on my right, the pain is still there so even though I probably could have paddled today, I really need to get this checked out before something bad happens. The sun rose and I got out to see a bit of the sunrise. The sand fleas had gone back to their little holes in the sand where they reside to. Packed up everything and Donal got a couple drone shots thank goodness, I’ve carried that thing around for months and have used it a handful of times. Whoops.
He met me and we put the boat and my stuff in the van and had a coffee in the sun. He brought his stove and pour over set up so it was nice to chill with a cuppa before heading out. Had the nice scenic drive through Connemara, and saw the mountains and rivers in the area, it’s always so nice to drive around in the areas I paddle to.
We went straight to a walk in clinic to get a referral for the hospital, I knew I needed to be seen further and probably get scans so he wrote that up for me and over we went to university hospital Galway for the emergency department. 5 hours of waiting, getting vitals checked, bloods, pain tests, and all the rest and they said that I needed an ultrasound but that I wouldn’t be able to get in until the morning. They tested kidneys, appendix and for a hernia and it wasn’t that. So they let me go home overnight to be back tomorrow morning. Donal had waited for me the whole and we went to get Xian street food before going home. After being pressed on and prodded by 4 different doctors and explaining what was wrong over and over, I’m so exhausted. Going to sleep after a good meal, will go back in the morning.
