Blacksod Lighthouse tour and D-Day history

September 29th, Day 108

Had a good sleep, still working off some tired energy but a good restful day overall. Niamh collected me for breakfast and she brought to her house, a little side cottage that’s probably very cozy in the violent winds of the west when winter comes. She works at the nature school here which is probably such a nice job to have. Fergus offered if we wanted to go on the lighthouse tour that he runs so we went to the Blacksod lighthouse where it took place. He’s such a cool guy because his whole family history is within this lighthouse and it was his grandmother (great grandmother?) who sent the final weather reports for the launch into D-Day. Very cool stories. Went up in the lighthouse and saw the mirrors that reflect the light and the wind and rain hammering against the big windows. After the tour Niamh and I went back to the center and had lunch at the cafe. Back to Fergus’ house and I borrowed his computer to work on my presentation for the ISKA Symposium. It’s coming up here now and I want to have something to show as a visual aid with photos and videos. Fergus brought back steak sandwiches for dinner.
