1 Month Away
This is Steve and the very boat that I am paddling around in! He's the reason that I am able to do this trip. He's always been supportive and has helped me make this happen. Thanks Steve.
I leave June 15th, which is just under a month away now! I am very happy to be here in Dublin again. It feels as though I never left, and I have been paddling and dancing all the same. I dance and teach lindy hop and tap, at the place I first started swing dance in the city. It's been a total joy to be dancing here again, after visiting different scenes in the states. The most dancing I have done away was at different social events in San Fransisco, and do they have an amazing scene there.
I am busy charting my route, getting all the last bits of my gear, fixing anything that should start an expedition fresh, and getting life things done that I will have to put on hold for the 3 months. We are also in the process of fitting the boat to me as Rockpool Tarans come with bare bone seat padding (none) and I am a petite lady.
One of my dance friends is going to cut my hair short so it isnt in the way, and will dry quick when I get poured on, I am doing my daily upper body calisthenics to be ready and reading my favorite Irish mythology stories sometimes in the eve. I get on the water when I can borrow a boat (since the Taran is in Northern Ireland where Steve lives), which has been lovely, and plenty of the time at the moment is spent knowing every mile of the coast line before I even get there. This week is a lot of laying on the floor with my 52 pieces of laminated charts and drawing info on them.
